Munnar Tea Plantations
Perched at several feet over the sea level and boasting of misty skies above and green carpeted fields below, these splendid Tea gardens in Munnar are a must-visit for every traveller. Sprawling over vast acres of lands, the umpteen tea plantations are sure to lure you with their bewitching beauty and charm.
Rose Garden
The Rose Gardens of Munnar is spread over 2 acres of land, is an excellent stretch that is brimming with a variety of plants, including spices, crops like cardamom and vanilla, and a variety of other fruit trees. These agricultural plantations exude mesmerising and wonderful aromas, which make your stay at the gardens a rewarding experience. Located near the National Highway 49, just two kilometres away from the city centre; the place is set 3,500 feet above the sea level and is a breathtaking sight to behold. The heart warming blossoms and colourful flowers make the place a mini-heaven on earth. Even though the garden is known as the 'Rose Garden', a variety of other plants and trees can also be found here. The area is covered with crops such as vanilla and cardamom. It is also the dwelling spot of many spices and fruit trees such as Litchi, Strawberry, Rumbuta and Amla. An equally large variety of flowering plants can be located here. Seasonal tropical fruits grow here all year long, and fresh vegetables and fruits like cabbage, potato, cauliflowers, bananas and beans can be obtained from the plantations farm. You can also buy seeds of flowering plants from here to go back and grow as a memoir of this charming place.
Tea Museum
Located in the Nallathanni Estate of Tata Tea around 2 km from Munnar. The KDHP Museum showcases a variety of antiquities, the most famous being the burial urn excavated from the vicinity of Periakanal Estate, dating back to the 2nd century AD. A 30-minute documentary feature by the museum will take you through a historical sojourn of the place. Visitors then proceed to the factory to understand how tea is processed. Pothamedu View Point Pothamedu View Point, situated 5 km off Munnar, is adorned with stretching hills and lush green mountains. One can witness the spectacular wide views of tea, coffee and cardamom plantations of the area. It is an ideal place to witness beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Idukki Arch Dam which is about 60 kms away is visible from this viewpoint on a clear day,
